561　proof和evidence

① proof指直接的確實(shí)證據(jù)，不容置疑的證據(jù)。

His actions were proof that he was telling the truth. 他的行動(dòng)就是他說實(shí)話的證明。

② evidence作“證據(jù)”解時(shí)，為不可數(shù)名詞，指或?qū)蝈e(cuò)的事實(shí)，但并不能確切證明究竟是對(duì)是錯(cuò)，多指與法律訴訟有關(guān)的證物、見證。

Running away was evidence of his guilt. 逃跑是他犯罪的證據(jù)。

提示

作“跡象，形跡”解時(shí)，evidence亦可作可數(shù)名詞。

There are evidences that somebody ever lived here. 有跡象表明，有人曾住在這里。
