527　panic，fear，dread和terror

① panic恐慌，慌亂，多是突發(fā)的，使人驚慌失措，并很快蔓延開來。

When the fighting began，some of them got into their cars and took off in a panic. 一開始打起來，他們一些人就跳上車倉皇逃走了。

There was a panic when the fire started. 火災發(fā)生時，引起了一場驚恐。

② fear害怕，懼怕。指擔心自己會受到傷害，或某種危險、不好的事情會降臨到自己頭上。

He was brought up with no fear of animals. 他從小就不害怕動物。

Talk about your hopes and fear to your friends. 把你的希望與擔憂同朋友們說說。

③ dread恐怖，畏懼。指由于擔心會發(fā)生不快的或令人驚畏的事而感到極大的驚恐或害怕。

He spoke of his growing dread of getting old. 他說到他越來越害怕漸入老境。

Her dread was that the child would be infected with the disease. 他擔心那孩子會染上這種病。

④ terror恐怖，指極大的驚駭或恐懼。

the terrors of war 戰(zhàn)爭的恐怖

Eyes wide with terror，she watched the knife flash towards her. 她看見刀子向她揮了過來，嚇得兩眼睜得大大的。
