① matter指必須考慮的事件、事情。在“What is the matter with…？”句型中，matter意為“麻煩”。

What is the matter with the car？車子出了什么毛?。?

② affair是可數(shù)名詞，意為“事件，事務(wù)”。如：public affairs（公共事務(wù)），international affairs（國際事務(wù)）。

③ business多指商業(yè)活動，也指“職業(yè)，職責，責任，工作任務(wù)”等。

He went to Shanghai on business. 他出差去上海了。
