363　imagine，guess和suppose

① imagine是及物動(dòng)詞，意為“想象，設(shè)想，料想”，結(jié)構(gòu)為：

imagine（sb.）doing sth.

imagine sb./oneself+補(bǔ)足語（名詞，分詞，不定式）

imagine sb./oneself as

imagine+that從句

imagine+what從句

We can hardly imagine life without electricity. 我們很難想象沒有電生活會(huì)怎么樣。

I can't imagine living such a life. 我無法設(shè)想過這樣的生活。

Can you imagine her becoming a driver？你能想象她當(dāng)了汽車司機(jī)嗎？

He likes to imagine himself a writer. 他喜歡想象自己是個(gè)作家。

Imagine yourself to be on a lonely island. 想象一下你自己在一個(gè)荒島上。

He imagined himself as manager of the company. 他把自己想象為公司的經(jīng)理。

② imagine，guess和suppose都可表示“猜想”，但有區(qū)別。imagine指沒有事實(shí)根據(jù)，憑主觀想象或主觀料想；guess指未作認(rèn)真思考而猜想或猜測；suppose指根據(jù)某些事實(shí)進(jìn)行推測。

比較

I used to imagine that he was a tall and thin man. 我以前猜想他是個(gè)又高又瘦的人。

I guess the stone weighs about 150 jin. 我猜那塊石頭大約重150斤。

I suppose he is right. 我想他是對的。
