287　“for+動名詞”表示原因還是目的

◎ for + 動名詞表示“因……”，強(qiáng)調(diào)事情的原因，常同blame（責(zé)備），scold（責(zé)罵），reprimand（譴責(zé)），punish（處罰）等連用。for + 動名詞不可表示目的。

He was punished for being late. 他因遲到而受罰。

The driver was fined for speeding. 那駕駛員因為超速而被罰款。

Forgive me for keeping you waiting. 不好意思讓你們久等了。

She felt ashamed of herself for not doing it well. 她因為自己沒做好而感到羞愧。

The teacher was angry with Jack for cheating in the exam. 老師對杰克在考試中作弊非常生氣。

提示

表示目的應(yīng)使用不定式短語，不可用“for+動名詞”。但可用“for+名詞”。

I came here for learning English.

I came here to learn English.

我來這里是為了學(xué)英語。

I came here for improving my health.

I came here to improve my health.

He sang a love song to please her. 為了要取悅她，他唱了一首情歌。

表示“為了要……”，常用“to+動詞原形”，還可用“in order to+動詞原形”和“so as to+動詞原形”。
