184　content用法難點(diǎn)

① content作形容詞，讀音為［k?n'tent］，意為“滿足的，滿意的”，只用作表語(yǔ)，不可作定語(yǔ)。結(jié)構(gòu)為：

feel content

content+to do sth.

content with sth.

He is content to live here. 他住在這里很滿足。

She seemed content with the explanations. 她似乎對(duì)解釋很滿意。

② content作及物動(dòng)詞，讀音為［k?n'tent］，意為“使……滿足/滿意”。結(jié)構(gòu)為：content sb. with sth.。

He contented himself with living there with his grand children. 他同孫輩住在那里很滿意。

She is easily contented. 她知足。

提示

contented既可以是過(guò)去分詞，又可以是形容詞，作形容詞時(shí)，contented可作表語(yǔ)，也可作定語(yǔ)；可以說(shuō)be contented with sth.，但不能說(shuō)be contented to do sth.。

He is the most contented man I have ever met. 他是我遇見(jiàn)過(guò)的最易滿足的人。（不可用content）

He felt contented with the present job. 他對(duì)眼下的工作感到滿意。（可用content）

③ content作名詞，讀音為［'k?ntent］，表示“內(nèi)容（與“形式”相對(duì)，為不可數(shù)名詞）；容量，含量，目錄，所容納的東西（為可數(shù)名詞）”。

I like the style of the book but I don't like the content. 我喜歡這本書的風(fēng)格，但不喜歡這本書的內(nèi)容。（content不可加s）
