① cheat指用不誠實(shí)的手段以取得所需的事物,可作及物動詞或不及物動詞;作名詞時表示“騙子,欺騙行為”。常用結(jié)構(gòu):cheat sb.(out)of sth.。
The old lady was cheated out of 5,000 yuan. 老太太被人騙了5000元。
I consider it wrong to cheat in an examination. 我認(rèn)為考試作弊是錯誤的。
② deceive指有意制造假象蒙蔽、欺騙,誤導(dǎo)人,使其信以為真。常用結(jié)構(gòu):
deceive sb./oneself(into doing sth.)。
She deceived me by pretending to be a famous movie star. 她冒充電影明星來騙我。
He did not study hard,but he deceived himself into thinking he would pass the examination. 他不用功學(xué)習(xí),卻欺騙自己,以為考試能及格。
③ fool表示“愚弄,戲弄”,主要指為了好玩而捉弄人;也表示“欺騙”。
People fool each other on April Fool's Day. 愚人節(jié)那天,人們互相開玩笑愚弄人。
You can't fool all the people all the time. 你不能永遠(yuǎn)欺騙所有的人。
④ trick指以狡詐之計謀或計策欺騙而間接取得所需之物。
The FBI used fake plans to trick the spy. 聯(lián)邦調(diào)查局以假計使那間諜上當(dāng)。
