148　cast off，cast away，cast down和cast about/around for

① cast off丟棄；放船，發(fā)船。

We cast off and set sail at 8 am. 我們上午8點鐘解纜起航。

② cast away

（1）扔掉，丟掉，浪費掉

Don't cast away these old papers. 別把這些舊報紙扔掉。

cast away one's time 浪費時間

（2）（通常用被動式）使（船難中幸存者）漂流到。

The sailors were cast away on a desert island. 因船失事，水手們流落到一個荒島上。

③ cast down（通常用被動式）氣餒，沮喪。

Father was very cast down by the news of our aunt's death. 姑媽去世的消息使父親很沮喪。

④ cast about/around for（沒有被動式）到處尋找，試圖（設法）找到。

The prisoner cast about for a way of escape. 犯人試圖找到一個逃跑的辦法。

John cast around for a good title for his article. 約翰想給他的文章找個好標題。
