104　battle，campaign和war

① battle意為“戰(zhàn)斗，戰(zhàn)役”，常用詞，一般指具體的武裝沖突或交戰(zhàn)。

The battle was fought early in the morning. 戰(zhàn)斗在清晨打響。

The French army was annihilated at the battle of Waterloo. 法軍在滑鐵盧戰(zhàn)役中全軍覆沒(méi)。

② campaign意為“戰(zhàn)役”，常指一系列有預(yù)定目標(biāo)的軍事行動(dòng)，一次戰(zhàn)役可以包括一系列的battle。

The Germans were defeated in the campaign of North Africa. 德國(guó)人在北非的戰(zhàn)役中被擊敗。

The general risked his whole campaign on the outcome of one battle. 將軍孤注一擲，以一次戰(zhàn)斗的成敗決定整個(gè)戰(zhàn)役。

③ war意為“戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)”，指國(guó)與國(guó)之間的戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)，也指內(nèi)戰(zhàn)。

A war burst out between the two countries. 兩國(guó)間爆發(fā)了戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)。

Germany was at war with almost all the countries in the world then. 德國(guó)當(dāng)時(shí)幾乎同世界所有國(guó)家處于交戰(zhàn)狀態(tài)。
