① award（give after careful consideration，esp. officially）經(jīng)仔細(xì)考慮之后正式地“給予，授予（獎(jiǎng)品等）”；作名詞時(shí)表示“獎(jiǎng)品，獎(jiǎng)金”。

A medal was awarded to him for his good conduct. 他因品行優(yōu)良被授予獎(jiǎng)?wù)隆?

He was awarded first prize. 他獲得了一等獎(jiǎng)。

They awarded scholarship to the best students. 他們把獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金授予最好的學(xué)生。

The book awards are presented annually. 圖書獎(jiǎng)一年頒發(fā)一次。

② reward（give as a return for sth.done）因做某事給予“回報(bào)，酬勞，獎(jiǎng)賞”；作名詞表示“報(bào)酬，獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)，報(bào)答”。

They rewarded her for her help. 他們答謝她的幫助。

Anyone who finds it will be rewarded. 凡找到它的人都將獲得酬謝。

He was given S| 800 as a reward for his bravery. 他因表現(xiàn)勇敢而得到800美元的賞金。

提示

在結(jié)構(gòu)上，award 后可接雙賓語：award sb.sth.（通常為獎(jiǎng)金或獎(jiǎng)狀）。reward 后只接一個(gè)賓語，通常以人或人的行為為賓語，句型是reward sb.with sth.。

They awarded her the Nobel Prize. 他們授予她諾貝爾獎(jiǎng)。

He rewarded her with money for her heroic deeds. 他為她的英雄行為而給她獎(jiǎng)金。

Her efforts were rewarded with success in career. 她的努力使她獲得了事業(yè)上的成功。
