26　advantage，benefit，interest和profit

① advantage意為“有利條件，優(yōu)點(diǎn)，優(yōu)勢(shì)”，指競(jìng)爭(zhēng)或物質(zhì)上贏得的好處，或應(yīng)付困難的條件或時(shí)機(jī)。

Her connections gave her an advantage over the others. 她的關(guān)系戶(hù)使她比別人更具優(yōu)勢(shì)。

He took advantage of the fine weather to sun his clothes. 他趁天氣晴好把衣服曬了。

It would be to our advantage to continue the training course. 把培訓(xùn)繼續(xù)辦下去對(duì)我們有好處。

② benefit是常用詞，指人們得到的物質(zhì)、精神方面的任何好處。

The book is of much benefit to me. 這本書(shū)對(duì)我大有益處。

She got a lot of benefit from their friendship. 她從他們的友誼中獲益良多。

③ interest用單數(shù)形式，指“利息，利潤(rùn)，興趣”，表示“利益”時(shí)，多用復(fù)數(shù)形式。

The interest on the loan is five percent. 這項(xiàng)貸款的利息是百分之五。

The interests of our firm are closely bound up with those of yours. 我們兩家公司的利益息息相關(guān)。

④ profit著重指物質(zhì)、金錢(qián)方面獲得的利益或好處，表示“贏利，收益，利潤(rùn)”，也指其他方面的“益處，得益”。

She made a profit of 10，000 dollars on the villa. 她出售這幢別墅獲利10000美元。

The school is not operated for profit. 這所學(xué)校不是為贏利而辦的。

The book can be read with profit as well as pleasure. 讀這本書(shū)既可娛樂(lè)又可獲益。
