The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched what's been described as the biggest tax reform since the country's independence 70 years ago. The changes standardize taxes on goods and services. The move is expected to create a single Indian market.

The New York Police Commissioner says a gunman who opened fire at a hospital in the city has killed himself. At least 6 people were wounded in the attack at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital. One is reported to have died. The gunman was a former employee.

Prosecutors say Rodrigo Rocha Loures, a former aide to Mr. Temer, collected bribes from the country's biggest meat packing company. Mr. Rocha Loures denies the charges.
