中國(guó)白酒的英文名改了！以后叫Chinese Baijiu

Liquor as the important part of Chinese culture has a production history of more than two thousand years.

白酒作為中國(guó)文化的重要組成部分，有著兩千多年的生產(chǎn)歷史。

The spirit, adopts natural multi-strain solid-state fermentation and distillation, is completely different from the traditional concept of distilled spirits in the West.

白酒采用自然多菌固態(tài)發(fā)酵和蒸餾，完全不同于西方傳統(tǒng)的蒸餾酒概念。

Chinese Baijiu, together with Brandy, Whisky, Vodka, Rum and Gin, ranks among the top six distilled spirits in the world, according to the CADA.

據(jù)中國(guó)酒業(yè)協(xié)會(huì)介紹，中國(guó)白酒與白蘭地、威士忌、伏特加、朗姆酒和金酒一起并稱為世界六大蒸餾酒。

But for years, Chinese Baijiu lacked an official, accurate English name, causing confusion among overseas consumers when referring to this type of spirit.

但多年來，中國(guó)白酒缺乏一個(gè)官方的、準(zhǔn)確的英文名稱，導(dǎo)致海外消費(fèi)者在使用這種酒時(shí)感到困惑。

Although accounting for one third of the world s total distilled spirits consumed due to China s huge consumer base, Chinese Baijiu lacked a formal English name and was often referred to Chinese spirits, Chinese distilled spirits and Chinese liquor.

盡管由于中國(guó)龐大的消費(fèi)群體，中國(guó)白酒占全球白酒消費(fèi)總量的三分之一，但中國(guó)白酒卻沒有一個(gè)正式的英文名稱，比如Chinese spirits(中國(guó)白酒)，Chinese distilled spirits(中國(guó)蒸餾酒)，Chinese liquor(中國(guó)烈酒)等都稱為“中國(guó)白酒”。

Chinese customs have officially adopted "Chinese Baijiu," as the new terminology for the Chinese distilled spirit, for product labeling for exports, after repeated communication with the tax collection bureau of the Chinese customs authorities since China Alcoholic Drinks Association (CADA) formally submitted an application to the customs authorities on April 25, 2020, according to the association.

中國(guó)海關(guān)已經(jīng)正式采用“Chinese Baijiu”作為中國(guó)白酒的新術(shù)語，用于出口產(chǎn)品的標(biāo)簽。據(jù)中國(guó)酒業(yè)協(xié)會(huì)介紹，自該協(xié)會(huì)于2020年4月25日正式向海關(guān)提交申請(qǐng)以來，已與海關(guān)總署稅收征管局進(jìn)行了多次溝通。

The official English name was applied in the 2021 Import and Export Tariff of the People s Republic of China implemented on January 1, media reports.

據(jù)媒體報(bào)道，該官方英文名稱應(yīng)用于1月1日起實(shí)施的2021年《中華人民共和國(guó)進(jìn)出口稅則》。

The news went viral online after its release and became one of the the top 10 topics at China s twitter-like social media platform Sina Weibo on Thursday, with many netizens applauding the change, saying the new name that attaches with the Chinese term, would be like Toufu and Jiaozi that reflects its own name in English language.

這則新聞一經(jīng)發(fā)布就在網(wǎng)上瘋傳，并于周四成為中國(guó)新浪微博上十大熱門話題之一，許多網(wǎng)民對(duì)這一改變表示歡迎，稱這個(gè)中文術(shù)語就像“Toufu”和“Jiaozi”一樣，保留了自己的文化特色，有自己獨(dú)有的英文名稱。

中酒協(xié)相關(guān)負(fù)責(zé)人表示，近年來協(xié)會(huì)組織白酒企業(yè)參加的各種食品飲料展會(huì)上也都統(tǒng)一使用“Chinese Baijiu”，相信隨著時(shí)間的推移，“Chinese Baijiu”的知名度將越來越高。
