“五星酒店”到底是“five star”還是復(fù)數(shù)“five stars”？

但是關(guān)于五星級(jí)酒店的小知識(shí)還是需要掌握的，

五星級(jí)的正確表達(dá)是：Five-star

If you change the word order, you have to add or remove the “s” from stars:

那家酒店被評(píng)為五星級(jí)。

?We stayed at a five-star hotel.

我們住在一家五星級(jí)酒店。

This is because 'star' is functioning as an adjective, and not as a noun. You can say that you saw 'Five stars' shining in the sky. But when a noun like hotel follows the word 'star' , you say, 'I had dinner in a three star hotel'. You do not say, 'three stars hotel'. Similarly, you say, 'I want five rupees'. But when the word 'rupees' is followed by the noun 'coin' or 'note' , you say, 'I need a five rupee coinnote'. You do not say, 'five rupees note'. Joggers talk about a 'twenty-mile marathon', and not a 'twenty miles marathon'.

這是因?yàn)閟tar是形容詞，而不是名詞。你可以說“你看到了five stars在天空中閃耀”。但是當(dāng)像hotel這樣的名詞跟在star后面時(shí)，你會(huì)說，“I had dinner in a three star hotel”。你不會(huì)說，“three stars hotel”。同樣地，你說，“I want five rupees”。但是，當(dāng)單詞“盧比”后面跟名詞“coin”或“note”時(shí)，你就會(huì)說，“I need a five rupee coinnote.”。你不能說“five rupees note”。慢跑者說“twenty-mile marathon”，而不是“twenty miles marathon”
